Submission Guidelines for Articles and Research Papers

The Centre for Policies, Laws and Agenda at NUSRL Ranchi welcomes submissions from students, academics, researchers, policy analysts, and legal professionals across India. Our platform aims to create a vibrant academic space for meaningful discourse on issues of legal and policy relevance.

We publish two primary categories of written work:
1. Articles & Opinion Pieces
2. Research Papers

1. Types of Submissions

A. Articles and Opinion Pieces

We accept well-reasoned short-form and long-form articles on contemporary issues in law, governance, policy, and related social sciences. These may include:

  • Case commentaries
  • Legislative analysis
  • Legal explainers
  • Opinion editorials
  • Policy recommendations
  • Student perspectives on ongoing issues

Word Limit:
• Short Article: 800 to 1,500 words
• Long-form Article: 2,000 to 3,000 words

B. Research Papers

We encourage detailed and original research on law and policy. These papers may take a doctrinal, comparative, empirical, or interdisciplinary approach.

Word Limit: 3,000 to 5,000 words (excluding footnotes)

2. Formatting Requirements

  • Font: Times New Roman
  • Font Size: 12 pt
  • Line Spacing: 1.0 (Single)
  • Margins: 1 inch on all sides
  • File Format: Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx)
  • Language: English (British or American, consistent throughout)

3. Citation and Referencing

• All legal or factual claims must be properly cited.
Preferred Citation Style: Bluebook (20th Edition) or any consistent legal format (e.g., OSCOLA).
• Footnotes should be used instead of endnotes.
• Research papers may include explanatory footnotes where necessary.

4. Submission Process

Submissions must be emailed to the Editorial Team at:

Email Subject Line: “Submission – [Title] – [Category: Article / Research Paper]”

Attachments:

  • Submission in Word format (.doc or .docx)
  • Short author bio (50–100 words)
  • Undertaking of originality (in the email body is sufficient)

Note: Do not include your name or institutional affiliation in the document file to facilitate blind review.

5. Review and Editorial Policy

• Submissions are reviewed on a rolling basis.
• The Editorial Board reserves the right to accept, reject, or suggest edits.
• Edits will be communicated to the author with comments.
• Accepted works may be promoted on our website and social media.

6. Originality and Plagiarism

• Only original, unpublished works are accepted.
• Simultaneous submissions are not permitted.
• Plagiarism above 10% will lead to automatic rejection.
• All ideas or quotations must be properly credited.

7. Copyright and License

• Authors grant the Centre a non-exclusive license to publish the work online.
• Authors retain copyright and may republish elsewhere with acknowledgment.

8. Author Benefits

• E-certificate of publication (upon request)
• Possibility of featuring in our newsletter or journal
• Invitation to future projects or editorial collaboration

9. Deadlines & Frequency

We accept submissions throughout the year. There is no fixed deadline.
